Safety & Scam Prevention
Most users are here to do legitimate business, but online listings always require good judgment. Take a few simple precautions before sending money, accepting a job or hiring a service provider.
Verify who you're dealing with
Confirm the business name, phone number, address and other important details independently before sending money, accepting a job or authorizing services.
Be careful before sending money
Inspect equipment when possible and independently verify the seller before sending deposits or payments. Be especially cautious with unusual payment requests, gift cards, cryptocurrency or pressure to pay immediately.
Check the VIN, title and DOT/MC numbers
Before buying equipment, verify the VIN, ownership and title information. Before accepting a trucking job, independently verify the carrier and its DOT/MC information.
Watch for job scams
Be cautious if a recruiter requests money or sensitive information before hiring. Verify the carrier independently and confirm pay, deductions, equipment and employment terms directly with the company.
Keep records
Save the listing, messages, emails, receipts and transaction details. These records may be useful if you need to report fraud, dispute a transaction or contact law enforcement.
